S & G chose August for their wedding, and the weather could not have been more perfect. Bright blue skies and warm sunshine set the tone for a day that felt joyful, calm, and full of celebration. Guests wandered through the gardens, soaking up the scenery, while the venue’s natural elegance meant everything felt elevated without ever being overdone.

Designing a Modern Wedding Cake for Leonardslee Gardens
When S & G came to me about their cake, they knew they wanted something modern, elegant, and in harmony with the natural surroundings of Leonardslee Gardens. We talked a lot about texture, softness, and how the cake would sit within the wider styling of the day.
The result was a three-tier, ganache-finished wedding cake, designed to feel contemporary yet romantic — a perfect balance for a Leonardslee Gardens wedding cake.
The cake was decorated with fully edible wafer paper flowers, each one handcrafted and carefully arranged to create movement and softness. Wafer paper is one of my favourite mediums to work with; it allows for a light, ethereal finish that feels floral without overpowering the design. Against the smooth ganache, the flowers added just the right amount of detail and artistry.

All of the florals on S & G’s cake were completely edible, made from wafer paper and shaped petal by petal. The colour palette was kept soft and light, echoing the pastel tones used throughout the wedding — a subtle nod to the flowers, stationery, and overall styling.

Red Velvet- Crimson rich red velvet cake paired with vanilla buttercream.
Vanilla & Wildberry- A moist, delicate vanilla sponge. Topped with lashings of perfectly creamy raspberry buttercream and wild berry preserve
